Job Description
Manage end-to-end UK payroll processing on a monthly and/or weekly basis.- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and employment law, including Real Time Information (RTI), National Minimum Wage, pension auto-enrolment, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP).
- Oversee year-end processes including P60s, P11Ds, and benefit-in-kind reporting.
- Manage relationships with pension providers and ensure auto-enrolment duties are fulfilled.
- Lead and support a team of payroll administrators, fostering development and high performance.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, Legal) to ensure accurate payroll data and reporting.
- Maintain and update payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Manage payroll audits (internal/external) and ensure robust governance.
- Drive system improvements and participate in payroll system upgrades, integrations, or transitions (e.g., Workday, SAP, Resource Link).
- Ensure accurate reporting for finance and budgeting, including payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
- Provide guidance on payroll implications for business changes, such as TUPE transfers, acquisitions, and restructures.
- Manage a team of 7/8 people

An experienced payroll manager with experience in a large company and managing a team, who can start asap and commit to a 12 month contract initially.
