An exciting Band 6 nursing opportunity has arisen in Wythenshawe Orthopedic Fracture Clinic. Energy, enthusiasm and drive is required to work in this service. The department treats patients with a range of orthopedic conditions and complex wounds.

The successful candidate will work closely with the MDT and trauma nurse specialist to ensure patients have a positive experience and receive a high standard of care.

Main duties of the job

To succeed, you’ll need to be committed in delivering high quality, patient focused care with pride and respect. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to provide evidence of personal and professional development.

Applicants must possess a proven clinical and managerial career history at Band 5 or 6 in orthopaedics and demonstrate a commitment to effective leadership. An experience in an outpatient environment is essential, as is a commitment to outpatient service development.

The role will be based in the Wythenshawe but the ability to work cross-site within the WTWA footprint will be required. Clinics run five days a week. Working hours will vary between 08:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday with the requirement to be flexible to cover weekend clinics if the service requires.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First level registration - (RN Adult)
  • Relevant teaching qualification / Mentorship or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of CPD in relevant specialty
Desirable criteria
  • Appropriate management or leadership courses
  • British Casting Certificate holder or actively enrolled and working towards

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post registration experience in orthopaedics
  • Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice
  • Evidence of multi disciplinary/multi agency working
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Previous experience working in an outpatient setting

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability
  • Clinically competent in orthopaedics
