We are seeking an experienced and dedicated nurse/ ODP to support in the leadership of the theatre team for the new Hampshire Elective Orthopaedic Hub.

Excellent team working and communication skills are essential for this role along with a need to establish and maintain good working relationships within the multidisciplinary team and wider services to work collaboratively and co-operatively to enhance quality of care.

The successful candidate will provide direction and inspirational leadership to junior members of the multidisciplinary team; they will also be expected to work as an expert clinical practitioner providing high quality of care to patients and service users.

The postholder will support the team leader in the management of general resources, both personnel and financial and to ensure the effective operation of the department whilst maintaining high professional and clinical standards.

Main duties of the job
  • To work predominantly in as a clinical expert in anaesthetics and recovery to support Theatre Team Leader(s) in leading and managing the service effectively and to deputise in their absence.
  • To manage general resources, both personnel and financial, to ensure the effective operation of the department.
  • The post holder will provide skilled specialist assistance in the delivery of high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative journey. The post holder will be committed to providing research and evidence-based practice whilst working as part of, and leading a multi professional team.

Essential criteria
  • Professional UK Registration NMC/HCHP
  • Post-registration Anaesthetic Module or ODP Qualification
  • Leadership/ management training
Desirable criteria
  • Post Registration relevant Diploma / Degree / Masters
  • Education/training qualification
  • Quality improvement training
  • ILS/ALS training

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • At least 2 years at band 5 in relevant clinical setting
  • Experience in coordinating department/performing in-charge role
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile
  • Evidence of Leadership
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of staff supervision and mentorship
  • Advanced knowledge and skills relevant to clinical area
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Experience of project management/ service improvement

Skills and Ability

Essential criteria
  • Able to manage people effectively
  • Evidence of planning and organisational skills
