Location: Moorhey St Depot / Alexandra Park Environment Centre / Spindles Office

Role Overview:

Leading on service delivery for key, frontline and significant operational areas that are of great importance to the residents of Oldham, Oldham Council and elected members. The Role is crucial in ensuring the boroughs environment is maintained, improved and delivers services that effective, responsive and done in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the leadership, management, development and delivery of the Waste, Fleet, Cleansing, Bereavement Services and Parks & Greenspace services for Oldham Council
  • To lead, develop and be accountable for the delivery of statutory and non-statutory functions related to the above roles, and ensure compliance with national standards, regulations and policy changes across all respective areas and ensure effective deployment of workforce and assets to achieve the Council’s objectives
  • To ensure delivery of services which meet the needs of local residents, protect and improve public health and the environment, and to embed a culture of trust and ambition with the staff, and a reputation of excellent customer service amongst local communities, residents and businesses
  • To support the councils’ strategic priorities across key areas by working with internal and external partners to address existing and emerging challenges

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • Excellent understanding of the operational areas outlined in the attached JD and person profile
  • Significant, demonstrable/evidenced experience in successfully delivering, managing and improving frontline service areas
  • A proven track record of leading, motivating and managing professional teams, including the establishment of a positive performance culture that has delivered effective performance and continuous service improvement
  • A proven track record of managing budgets to high standards of probity
