Hays are collaborating with one of the UK’s largest consultancy firms to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer for their Belfast office. This leading consultancy specialises in comprehensive engineering, operational, and decarbonisation solutions for transport infrastructure and complex facilities.

Their services cover the entire project lifecycle, from consultancy and design to construction and maintenance.

Your new role

The Geotechnical Engineer will be working under the guidance of a line manager or more senior colleagues, supporting the creation of technically robust outputs for engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities: Preparing designs, performing calculations, creating drawings, and documenting project details.

Produce scheme deliverables that meet quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
Collaborate within a team, contributing to the development of technically robust engineering solutions while adhering to applicable technical standards and client specifications.
Handling general office tasks related to the efficient operation of a consulting engineering firm.

This role may involve on-site work, either through periodic visits or in a temporary full-time capacity, potentially including after-hours assignments.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in the Geotechnical Engineering role, our client requires a candidate who has a Degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geoinformatics/Geology Engineering, preferably 2:1.
Preferably, candidates with experience from work placement, with good technical knowledge and familiar with the use of geotechnical analysis and design software.

It would be desirable if the candidate has experience in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and demonstrates a basic understanding of the different interfaces on projects.
