Senior Project Manager
How you'll make a difference:
As a Senior Project Manager, you will manage highway and transport infrastructure projects which improve sustainable transport infrastructure, support public transport, walking and cycling schemes and create inclusive places.
Working as part of an ambitious team, you will focus on growth and delivering improvements for residents and businesses. South Gloucestershire Council has secured over £100m in funding to decarbonise transport, promote public transport, walking and cycling and drive growth and productivity through investment in infrastructure.
What you will be doing:
- Managing projects which improve traffic management processes for all users of the highway, you will support economic growth in the area to improve transport links and create inclusive spaces.
- On a daily basis, you will manage and motivate a staff from different teams to deliver projects to time and budget and offer advice to customers, councillors, senior managers and stakeholders, on issues, risks and project progress.
- Working closely with suppliers and partners, you will manage projects and service standards which requires consulting with customers and providing training and information sessions so understanding of the area is enhanced.
- You will take ownership for responding to and resolving queries and complaints from customers, ensuring a high quality and consistent service is provided and service level agreements are adhered to.
- As required, you will review and resolve any issues relating to budgets, financial information and resources for your area of specialism so that agreed targets are met and reports are prepared and delivered for senior managers.
- Providing expert and prompt advice on subjects such as transport planning, traffic management processes, planning and other statutory processes, you will help support the development of projects through from business case development to implementation.
What we need from you:
- It is essential that you hold a relevant professional qualification, degree or equivalent experience of working on projects, with knowledge of project management practices and systems such as APM or Prince 2.
- You will have experience of local government structures and processes and have worked with key stakeholders and partners as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- We require you to demonstrate a working knowledge of project management processes, traffic management systems and transport planning processes.
- It is key that you have knowledge of UK highway rules and regulations and understanding of the UK planning system, planning application processes and other statutory processes required for this role.
- You need to have experience of transport scheme design, business case development and producing funding bids, with a detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice.

- This is a hybrid role meaning that you can work remotely or in our offices.
- You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle.
