Missions/Main Duties:
Working in collaboration with our designers and contract partners, the Senior Engineer will be involved in a variety of tasks such as:
- Develop design deliverables (drawings, reports, specifications) in accordance with appropriate Railway Group, Network Rail Company standards and other client requirements
- Liaise with construction teams to ensure designs are buildable and represent value for money
- Develop and maintain hazard / risk registers for allocated design packages.
- Liaise with wider design team to ensure consistency and quality of deliverables across all projects.
- Implement effective, value for money and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements
- Prepare and check technical documents and reports and assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations
- Project administration reporting to the Project Manager including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets
- When required, to undertake the roles of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE), Task Manager, Designer, Checker or Approver for all various types of civil design.
- Competent to work unsupervised and to supervise others; competent to check and approve the work of others; competent to sign off design certificates on behalf of the company.
- Conceptual outline and detailed design of engineering solutions, presentation of engineering options.
- Delivery of work to programme, budget and specification.
- Training and development, mentoring of junior staff.
- Client and third party liaison.
- Establishment of internal design standards and/or processes to achieve a continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
- Contributing to long term technical development of the office by application of new techniques, procedures and practices.
- Develop a strong focused client relationship
- Effective management of and response to project related correspondence
- Assist and support the Principal Engineer where required
Profile/Skills:
- Professional registration with either IStructE or ICE at Chartered level or demonstratable evidence of progress towards Chartership.
- Significant Structural engineering design experience with large scale infrastructure exposure
- Experience working with BIM level 2, Revit. Knowledge of Robot, Tekla, Tekla Tedds analysis software beneficial.
- Experience working with relevant design standards for example Eurocodes, British Standards, UK Building Regulations, and Network Rail Standard.
- When required, to undertake the roles of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE).
