Skills & Experience:

A minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a support setting.
2 years’ experience working with homeless or vulnerable people, many with complex trauma or historical characteristics that can challenge.

Experience of recording and report writing evidencing person centred support provided and subsequent outcomes.

Effective time management skills as will be holding a caseload where all service users require face to face intervention

Knowledge of agencies and organisations that assist people who are homeless with Housing, Employment, education and training.

Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).

The purpose of the role is to provide an effective temporary accommodation support service to homeless households, by acting on their housing needs and offering information, advice and support to improve health and social wellbeing and signposting to relevant services.

Key Responsibilities:

To undertake sign-ups for temporary accommodation placements and ensure that the client understand all aspects and responsibilities of the licence / non secure agreements.
Assist with the completion of HB claims, liaising with service users and Revenues & Benefits sections to ensure HB is in payment in a timely manner.
Engage with rent officers and council tax to support the reduction in any arrears through the provision of rent statements and the introduction of payment plans.
Assist with the completion of HomeChoice applications where required.

Undertake weekly or as appropriate welfare visits to clients within temporary accommodation to provide support, advice and guidance accommodation. Complete property inspections and update on the system, ensuring that all repairs are reported promptly and monitored to ensure timely completions.

Support to clients improve their health and social well-being and advocate on their behalf to engage with the appropriate agencies and services as required.
Liaise with internal colleagues, statutory agencies and voluntary organisations to ensure appropriate support to service users is provided once identified.

Respond to reports of beach of license and non-secure tenancy conditions, which can include the eviction of clients. Liaise with Housing Options Officers regarding any incidents of anti-social behaviour by clients in temporary accommodation.
