Not all heroes wear capes. Some just know how to listen.
Some students just need that one person - the one who gets them, who sees beyond the behaviour, and who can help them turn things around. Could that be you?
This is so much more than a Teaching Assistant job. As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll be working one-to-one with students who need extra support in a specialist unit within a mainstream school. Some may have diagnosed or undiagnosed needs, others may just be struggling to navigate school life. But every single one of them has the potential to succeed with the right support.
And that's where you come in.
Why choose this role over any other?
✅ You'll actually make a difference - Seeing a student go from disengaged and frustrated to confident and motivated. That's the best feeling in the world.
✅ Every day is different - You won't be stuck at a desk, repeating the same routine. You'll be mentoring, motivating, and problem-solving, with real variety in your day.
✅ You'll get specialist training - If you've been a TA previously and are new to behaviour support, don't worry. You'll be trained in de-escalation techniques, positive behaviour strategies, and tailored interventions.
✅ This can lead to bigger things - Many Behaviour Mentors go on to roles in Education, Social Work, Counselling, or Youth Work. This is an amazing stepping stone if you're looking for a career that really matters.
What will you actually be doing?
Building trust - You'll be that safe, reliable person a student can turn to when they feel overwhelmed.
Helping them stay engaged - School isn't easy for everyone. You'll help students reconnect with learning in a way that works for them.
️ Supporting behaviour & emotional regulation - You'll use calm, structured strategies to help students manage their emotions and reactions in a positive way.
Working with teachers & parents - You'll be part of a team that's pulling together to give each student the best chance of success.
