We are looking for a substantive Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly and cohesive team of radiologists with diverse expertise in a busy department and a strong record in teaching, mentoring and training. The applicant would be expected to join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive cross-sectional and diagnostic radiology service including a rostered night-time on-call.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a substantive Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly and cohesive team of radiologists with diverse expertise in a busy department and a strong record in teaching, mentoring and training. The applicant would be expected to join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive cross-sectional and diagnostic radiology service including a rostered night-time on-call.
This post is for a general Consultant Radiologist with particular subspeciality interest in Head & Neck radiology, at Barts Health NHS Trust. A further subspecialty interest is encouraged & advantageous, as described within the person specification.The post will be primarily based at Whipps Cross University Hospital though cross-site collaboration is encouraged.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent general radiology skills including US, CT, plain film reporting, fluoroscopy and MRI, as well as having a subspecialty interest as above. Applicants must be GMC registered, with CCT in radiology (or within 6 months at time of interview) .There will be an on-call commitment – currently 1:16 (with scans performed between 8:30pm – 8:30am outsourced).
Research and teaching activities are encouraged and supported by the active academic department and there is a highly successful training programme with registrars.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- MB BS or equivalent
- FRCR or equivalent
Higher Qualifications
Essential criteria- CCT (or within 6 months of date of interview) or on specialist register
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Extensive experience in diagnostic radiology
- Evidence of participation in regional Head&Neck MDT, extensive FNA experience.
Clinical expertise in Speciality /Sub speciality
Essential criteria- Training in relevant subspecialty for the post
- A 2nd subspeciality eg Neuroradiology.
Clinical Governance
Essential criteria- Knowledge of NHS complaints system
- Record of incident and near miss reporting
- Training in root cause analysis
- Participation in incident investigation
- Simulated patient safety training
- Radiation Protection experience
Training Expected
Essential criteria- Audit experience
- Recorded log of independently reported MRI (H&N, ENT) examinations
