For the first time, we have a Band 5 A ATP post in the Northwest Crisis Resolution Home Treatment at St Pauls, Hemel Hempstead
We are seeking a dynamic & resourceful individual to take on this role of A ATP in this Crisis Home Treatment setting. The successful candidate will be part of an established service where therapy outcomes are quickly seen
This post is suited to an individual who enjoys the challenge of a fast-paced setting, thinks creatively, & has a well-established professional identity
Occupational therapy is an essential part of the treatment options within the Crisis Service, which support individuals in the community, who are going through an acute phase of mental ill health
The post holder will be supported by the Band 7 OT in the Crisis Services and be a fully integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team. This role involves individual Occupational Therapy treatment & there is scope for group work too
Therapy settings include the Crisis Teams base, the local crisis therapy unit, service users’ homes and their local community. Therefore, access to a vehicle is essential

Main duties of the job
To work individually with individuals on specific tasks and therapeutic activity with minimal guidance by an Occupational Therapist (OT).
To carry out specific OT assessments with minimal guidance by an OT & be responsible for a small caseload.
To promote a culture of engagement in meaningful occupation within the service to enhance quality of life.
To provide feedback to the team regarding observed occupational performance during a session which will contribute to assessment and therapeutic interventions
To exercise good personal time management, punctuality & consistent reliable attendance
To coordinate the development meetings for OT support staff
To work effectively as a member of a team in providing therapeutic activities using a person centered approach.
To provide OT advice, intervention & support to service users & their carers under minimal guidance of the OT
To provide feedback to the MDT regarding the service users wellbeing and occupational performance
To use technical / creative skills to engage service users in meaningful & appropriate activities to promote independence, recovery & well-being.
Under minimal guidance of an OT, to facilitate & deliver planned individual activities & potentially group work.
Under the minimal guidance of the OT, to provide ongoing assessment & adjustment of clinical interventions based on the fluctuating needs of the service users.
To provide supervision for Band 4 staff interventions as agreed by the OT.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will provide occupational therapy (OT) assessment & treatment interventions for service users & will carry a caseload as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will support the development of the OT service provision within the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team.As needed, the post holder will work closely with OTs in the crisis teams across the county. There will be opportunities to co-facilitate group work.

Key Relationships:
To work with OTs within the service and the wider Trust network.
To work with other Multi-Disciplinary Team members- To work with service users and carers
- To work and liaise with other statutory and non-statutory service providers involved in service user care and Treatment.
Duties and Responsibilities:

To liaise with carers and other professionals as relevant
To exercise good personal time management, punctuality & consistent reliable attendance.
To attend mandatory training.
To undertake relevant activities to meet training objectives identified with your supervisor.
To keep a record of training & development activities.
To coordinate the development meetings for OT support staff.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria- Knowledge of Occupational Therapy role within setting
- Proficient use of Microsoft office and associated packages
- Foundation degree and/or Health and Social Care NVQ level 5, Diploma of Higher Education, HND or equivalent
- Training in the use of the Model of Human Occupation in practice areas
- Training in topics relevant to clinical area e.g. Mental Health
- Degree in relevant subject
- Training in Supervision skills, Brief solution focused Therapy, Sensory based interventions
Experience
Essential criteria- Significant period of Experience of working within the clinical area e.g. people with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems and/or mental health for Older people
- Significant experience of working in an OT related setting
- Considerable experience of leading a range of groups and 1:1 interventions
- Proven ability to work autonomously
- Knowledge of Recovery principles
- Experience of service user and carer involvement in the development of services
- Functional Assessment Training
- Associate membership of British Association Of Occupational Therapy
- Up to date training record and an interest in reflective practice
- Involved in service developments
