We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Midwife at Homerton Healthcare.

The post holder will promote clinical trials at Homerton Healthcare, acting as a resource for Midwifery and Reproductive Health regarding current and future clinical trials. This will involve establishing study feasibility, pre- trial set up, recruitment of participants, education and monitoring of research patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be a member of the maternity research team under the Research and Innovations team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You will be working as a Band 6 Clinical Research Midwife. You will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research.

The post holder will be responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and close down clinical trials in accordance with local, national and international legislation. You will lead studies to assess patients’ suitability, ensuring informed consent is obtained; co-ordinate the logistics for patient visits and undertake patient assessments in accordance with study protocol.

All data to be recorded, including adverse and serious adverse events, in accordance with ICH-GCP and local national and international legislation.

Whilst the post holder will be allocated in the first instance to work within a specific research team and clinical environment, they will be expected to work in an alternative research team to meet the needs of studies being conducted throughout Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Relevant experience at band 6 within a relevant specialty

  • Knowledge of research and audit and understanding of Good clinical practice (GCP )
  • Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues
