We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled and motivated individual into our theatre management team. We have an exciting opportunity for a registered anaesthetic practitioner who is looking to expand their leadership and management skills within a diverse and challenging range of specialties.

As part of one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the country we are able to offer a range of development opportunities, to enhance leadership and clinical skills; post-holders will have access to on-site training programmes and the focused support of our theatre education team.

All applicants must hold current HCPC/NMC registration.

Substantial experience at band 6 in Anaesthetics

Main duties of the job

You must be able to demonstrate your ability to motivate individuals, have proven organisational skills, effective communication, leadership skills and a strong commitment to high standards of patient care. This role will be clinically facing and may involve having to work weekends as required.

You will be working jointly with fellow Band 7 Theatre Leads in Theatres and they will continue to undertake the line management of staffing.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant NMC/HCPC registration
  • Evidence of recent CPD
  • Evidence of excellent proven clinical and managerial skills
Desirable criteria
  • Management & Leadership Course
  • Relevant teaching qualification / experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of theatre environment
  • Extensive knowledge of anaesthetic role
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and service development

Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a senior anaesthetic role within a theatre environment
  • Experience of leading and managing a team within theatre
  • Maintains a portfolio of CPD in line with regulatory body standards.
  • Experience of working with, and able to provide credible leadership
  • Experience of managing staff including sickness and absence.

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to listen and decipher complex information and communicate the same message to different levels of the team.
  • Ability to prioritise and direct a workforce in pressurised circumstances.
  • Ability to implement new ideas and concepts.
  • Team Builder and motivator.
  • Evidence of leadership skills across the theatre department including delegation of tasks to colleagues.
  • Able to work under pressure, dealing with unpredictable service demands.
