Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join their fleet team in York. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience with hand and power tools.
This role is offered on a temporary basis, for a minimum of 6 months. There is potential for the role to be longer, with the opportunity of going permanent. Working days will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. Two different shifts patterns.
The pay rate is up to £16.94 per hour (dependent upon experience) and an opportunity for paid overtime.
As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing and maintaining various types of machinery, plant and equipment. This is to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, plant and machinery.Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, brake repairs, and tyre rotations.
Diagnose mechanical problems, using appropriate tools and techniques.
Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in all tasks.
Collaborate with team members to improve processes and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Mechanic or in a similar role.Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various mechanical systems.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Relevant certifications or qualifications preferably City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 in MechanicsFabrication skills, welding experience would be beneficial but not essential.
Cat B drivers licence/Cat C would be advantageous, as would Class 4&7 MOT Testers licence.
