Senior Engineering Superintendent-Marine Technical ServicesHM Naval base- Portsmouth, PO1 3LTPermanent, Full time

There are no line management responsibilities for the role, but the incumbent will be expected to work closely with the Royal Navy and Serco’s Technical Teams to ensure a consistently safe and effective engineering works package is being managed and reported through in-house and subcontractor management processes and routines.
Within this role you will be the technical and programmatic lead responsible for oversight and management of the repair and maintenance planning for a state of the art MOD owned vessel and lead on maritime projects as directed by the Customer team.
Main Accountabilities:
- To manage all aspects of the repair maintenance and overhaul (MRO) routines.
- To be the lead technical POC ensuring risks issues and opportunities are communicated, mitigated and acted upon in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide assurance to the Customer, Serco’s Maritime Services Director & Head of MRO that all activities are undertaken in a safe environment and are fully compliant with MCA, Class, Health and Safety, ISM & ISPS codes and any other legal requirements that may be applicable to the contract at all times.
- Promoting and fostering good working relationships with the Customer team and all internal maritime functions and related stakeholders.
- Managing a planned maintenance system (MAXIMO) and ensuring records are accurate and completed in a timely manner, supporting crews and the customer team as required.
- Leading on the creation of task orders, working closely with commercial and finance functions.
- Organising engineering resources and subcontractor arrangements for the completion of maintenance and repair works.
- Organising and managing docking programmes and associated works to ensure Flag Class and customer certification requirements are extant at all times.
- Leading on safety and environmental case development and defence safety requirements with he support of the maritime compliance team.
- Managing contract reporting and KPI tracking to achieve all customer expectations, reporting any issues to the Head of MRO and dealing with any customer concerns or requests in an efficient and professional manner.
- Monitoring and control of expenditure against delegated budgets and timely reporting of anticipated variances.
- Seeking and promoting opportunities for efficiencies without detriment to safety or levels of service.
- Exemplifying and promoting ethical behaviours and acting as an ambassador for Serco Maritime with all external personnel.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Able to achieve SC Security Clearance.
- Hold a UK Driving License & Passport.
- Hold a Marine Engineering Qualification
- Class I Unrestricted, however consideration will be given to Class II Unrestricted.
- Significant project management experience in a maritime environment
- In depth knowledge and experience of engineering and technical best practice and processes.
- Financial and Commercial acumen in a maritime technical context
- Thorough knowledge and experience of Class and Flag Authorities and regulations.
- Experience and competence with IT systems and office applications particularly word, excel, SharePoint and preferably MS Project.
- Technical expert in asset management systems (Maximo an advantage)
