Exciting Opportunity to Support Pupils with Additional Needs in a Special Educational Needs school in Portsmouth.

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join a welcoming Primary school in Portsmouth, supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This rewarding position offers the chance to make a significant impact on young learners’ lives while working in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The Role:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the pupils, providing tailored support to help them thrive both academically and socially. Daily responsibilites will include:

  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Encouraging positive behavior and fostering a nurturing learning environment.
  • Supporting children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Collaborating with staff and parents to ensure pupils receive the best possible care and support.
Key Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Professional or personal experience working with children with SEND or young children.
  • A patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
  • Resilience and flexibility to accommodate an ever-changing environment.
  • An understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures

While formal qualifications are not essential, they are advantageous, and any relevant experience in education, childcare, or support work will be highly valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
