Junior Product Manager

To assist in managing and refining the product backlog for data engineering and platform teams, ensuring user stories are well-defined and prioritised. The Junior Product Owner will support the triage and coordination of high-priority data and reporting requests, collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution, and contribute to the development and maintenance of the product roadmap.

This role will also involve participating in stakeholder meetings, capturing requirements, documenting feedback, and translating business needs into actionable tasks. You will work closely with delivery managers

Requirements

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in managing and refining the product backlog for data engineering and platform teams, ensuring user stories are well-defined and prioritised.
  • Support the triage and coordination of high-priority data and reporting requests, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the product roadmap by gathering input from stakeholders and aligning with strategic goals.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings to capture requirements, document feedback, and help translate business needs into actionable tasks.
  • Work closely with senior product and engineering team members to coordinate delivery across project, product, and support streams.
  • Help track and report on team objectives and key results (OKRs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation on product features, processes, and governance standards.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving platform efficiency, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with data governance, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in data platforms and product ownership.
  • Ensure that high-level and detailed requirements for each project are captured from business stakeholders in a variety of suitable formats.
  • Create user stories based on the requirements in the agreed format and system.
  • Ensure that product backlogs are created and refined on an ongoing basis as market and customer requirements change.
  • Order, manage, and prioritise the backlogs of user stories and product defects so that the work defined for the team is prioritised and meaningful to the business change.
  • Include acceptance criteria for each story in the product backlog.
  • Guide the business to prioritise based on multiple inputs and competing priorities.
  • Work closely with the development team to commit backlog items to sprint deliverables (negotiate what gets put in each iteration).
  • Take part in UAT of stories (where possible) in the route to production.

Who You Are:

Preferred:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Business
  • Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in product management or business analysis.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills, possessing the confidence to build relationships with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Agile development, data security, and governance.
  • Knowledge of low-code development and business automation is advantageous.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure is preferred.
