We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Cambridge Adult Locality Team. You should have a degree or relevant professional registration as an Occupational Therapist and will be an active member of a dynamic, highly motivated, skilled and creative team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic, sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under pressure and with a desire for innovation.
You will have the opportunity to manage a caseload of diverse service users, delivering a diverse range of clinical skills and building a therapeutic and recovery-based relationship.
Main duties of the job
The Cambridge Adult Locality team service supports working-age adults who have moderate to severe affective and psychotic disorders. The teams offer support in a number of ways, drawing from the expertise of such a variety of disciplines.
You will be working in a supportive environment that values your supervision and professional development. You will have a voice and role to play in service development.
The role will provide you with an opportunity to work within a sort after area where you experience wider, inter-disciplinary team dynamics. You will also work closely with external agencies and our local authority to support the needs of our service users.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Please refer to attached job description and person specification for full details.- The occupational therapist will provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation and the principles of recovery and enablement/reablement.
- The occupational therapist will use specialist clinical skills and reasoning to manage a caseload with complex needs, working with a high degree of autonomy and referring to senior staff when necessary.
- The occupational therapist will apply a high level of understanding of the effects of mental and physical health conditions on occupational performance; providing training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptions to the service user's social and physical environment.
- The occupational therapist will work collaboratively with service users to promote vocational rehabilitation and act as a team resource/specialist in vocational rehabilitation and employment.
- With appropriate training the occupational therapist will deliver specialist occupational focused interventions including sensory integration/ approaches and enabling/reablement approaches.
- The occupational therapist may be asked to undertake the role of care coordinator for a defined clinical caseload of service users with complex mental health needs.
- The occupational therapist will ensure that all care planning will involve the service user and where appropriate the carer, collaboratively identifying, pursuing and reviewing goals in the context of care planning.
- The occupational therapist will plan and implement specialist individual and /or group interventions collaboratively, to enable service users to achieve valued goals and desired occupational performance outcomes.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria- Minimum Bachelor level equivalent training in OT
- Additional clinical training relevant to specialism
- HCPC Professional Registration as OT
- Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists
Experience
Essential criteria- Working with people with a range of mental health challenges
- Experience of working with a range of statutory and non statutory services
- Working with carers or families
- Experience of supervising others.
- Service development or evaluation projects
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria- Able to record information clearly and accurately
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Good team worker with effective interpersonal skills
- Self management/able to manage own caseload with indirect support
- Able to manage pressure of working in intensive environment
- Ability to deliver specialist occupational focused interventions such as sensory integration, reablement, vocational assessment
- Effective personal time management
Knowledge and understanding
Essential criteria- Specialist knowledge of OT assessment, intervention and practise models relevant to the service user group (e.g. MoHO)
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act
- Knowledge of RCOT and HCPC professional standards
- Good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding adults at risk of abuse and children
- Knowledge of developments in occupational therapy
Physical Requirements
Essential criteria- Ability to travel independently in accordance with Trust policies and service need
- Ability to travel with or without patients throughout Cambridgeshire on a daily basis
