Your Opportunity:

As Warehouse & Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for all areas of our warehouse facility in Didcot on a day-to-day basis. You will lead and manage the warehouse ensuring professional, cost effective and efficient methods of warehouse operations.

You will lead on all logistics and movement of goods, ensuring we meet deadlines, providing a fast and cost-efficient service to all our customers.

Well organised and process driven, you will be focused on improving our logistics performance and scaling the operation in line with our business growth. You will possess excellent people skills including the ability to motivate and inspire. Your experience gained throughout your career will enable you to operate on the shop floor and interact comfortably with senior management.

What You'll Do:

WAREHOUSE

Planning, organising and controlling warehouse operations - Oversee warehouse processes (Book Processing, Goods Out (invoicing and despatch), Shipments).
Ensure orders are prioritised effectively to meet customer dispatch dates. Ensure compliance of picking & packing to customer requirements and standards.

Staff training and performance management - Manage teams to minimise churn and maximise productivity. Supervise and motivate a wide variety of workers, building a robust team spirit. Identify training requirements across the workforce and develop skill sets.

LOGISTICS

Conduct analysis of all current shipping routes, costs, import/export regulations, supplier relationships and contract terms. Lead a project to review global supply channels to customers and implement change where appropriate.

Train internal staff on carrier management, customs formalities, Incoterms, trade routes.

Improve shipment tracking visibility for customers

Design and implement supply chain performance monitoring including cost management and reporting and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall effectiveness.

GENERAL
Update and implement standard operating procedures ensuring implementation of efficient workflows and processes.
Monitor quality standards and constantly strive to improve output in all areas. Ensuring the required levels of performance, work standards, outputs, service and quality are achieved.
Monitor and control costs, assisting with budgets. Put forward cases for investment in equipment or services and changes to ways of working.
Implementing, measuring and monitoring performance standards - devising and implementing robust and transparent KPIs across all areas. Plan and prioritize daily production workflows ensuring KPIs are meet.

Adhere to health and safety guidelines and ensure they are always followed. Ensure that the warehouse operation complies with all ISO9001, ISO14001, security, health and safety and other legal requirements.

About You:

WAREHOUSING

Minimum 3 years previous warehouse management experience with a thorough understanding of warehouse best practices. Proven understanding of H&S systems, manual handling and the safe movement of goods together with the ability to identify and resolve safety issues as they arise.

Proven experience of managing and leading small / medium size teams in production-based warehouse environments. Ability to supervise and motivate a team to deliver results cost-efficiently and accurately. Experienced in staff training, disciplinary and grievance procedures.

LOGISTICS

Strong experience in logistics and supply chain strategy in particular movement of goods via parcel / express carriers globally.
MUST have specific UK export experience using courier/express services. Shipping/container movement experience is NOT relevant to this role.
Must have excellent understanding of customs formalities, tax and trade lanes and trade deals.
Must have excellent analytical skills, strong technical abilities in reporting and presenting.

Must have experience in negotiating supplier terms

GENERAL
Good secondary education with strong written and oral skills. High level of numeracy and attention to detail in daily work.
IT literate (Microsoft applications, project tools)
Strong organisational, scheduling and prioritisation skills – an awareness of Quality Management Systems and Lean Methodology desirable
