Day-to-Day of the Role: Assist in the delivery of highway projects ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.Provide a cost-effective highways consultancy service, essential to service users.Assess the feasibility of new projects, applying a consistent and coherent approach, ensuring high-quality standards.Administer contracts, monitoring the performance of all contract activities to ensure high standards of service delivery.Develop a culture of collaborative working across departments to enhance service delivery.Build successful relationships with stakeholders to understand design briefs and ensure proposals meet agreed objectives.Manage work packages within project constraints of time, quality, and cost to achieve Business Plan objectives.Display financial management skills to monitor and control income and expenditure related to services, projects, and budgets.Represent the City Council during consultations on contentious issues, maintaining accountability and sensitivity to community diversity.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or HNC/HND supplemented with relevant experience.Demonstrable experience in highway maintenance or a closely related field.Strong project management skills with an understanding of budgeting and cost control.Excellent communication skills, capable of negotiating and influencing stakeholders.Proficient in ICT, able to use systems for data analysis and presentation.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
