Working for our organisation

Our Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the largest in the country.

The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, reducing health inequalities.

With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas.

These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community- based area providers.

The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a professional leader you will provide strategic and operational support and be responsible for assuring high quality patient focussed care, ensuring robust risk management and governance.

The successful candidate will be part of the ICB Nursing and Quality team and will be responsible for the leading and assuring on patient centred, safe and effective care in partnership with our partners, providers, primary care and independent sector.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of sustained personal & professional development
  • Registered nurse with post registration qualification.
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Substantial experience in a very senior nursing position with a demonstrable track record of success in a large and complex NHS organisation
  • Experience in dealingwith the complex field of litigation, regulation & improvement
  • Knowledge and substantial experience of leading the nursing agenda within an NHS organisation
  • Knowledge and experience of leading organisational clinical quality, clinical governance & risk management agendas
  • Experience in the management of complex projects
  • Experience of effective partnership and working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of implementing governance frameworks
  • Knowledge and experience of staff management
  • Knowledge and experience of financial management
  • Experience at a very senior level within provider, commissioning and oversight and assurance / regulatory organisations
  • Significant experience of strategic leadership across and within organisations
  • Demonstrable experience of Implementing and leading nursing and quality professional leadership across systems
