Contract Type: Full-time, permanent (33.25 hours per week)

Newmarket Academy is a community school on a journey to embed and sustain the significant improvements we have made. We are ambitious to ‘be the best we can be’ for the children who attend our school. Our core values- respectful, responsible, resilient- capture our approach and we are looking for a leader to join us who can model our values and challenge us all to be even better.

We are proud to have been appointed the first lead secondary school in the country for developing the CUSP curriculum (Curriculum Unity Schools Partnership) at secondary level. The CUSP curriculum is well established in the UK and internationally.

CUSP is guided by evidence-led curriculum structures, such as retrieval, spaced retrieval practice and interleaving. It is underpinned by explicit vocabulary instruction and research-focused pedagogy. Combining these has led to exceptional outcomes for young people, as a result of coherent curriculum design and instructional teaching.

We need an inspirational and strategic leader who can bring creativity and innovation to the personal development we offer our students and a commitment to excellence in safeguarding whilst promoting belonging across our school and our community.

The successful candidate will be highly visible, collaborative and inspirational, committed to raising standards both in their areas of responsibility and across the school.

Newmarket Academy is part of Unity Schools Partnership, a forward-thinking academy trust of 39 schools. At Unity, we value our people, and we have developed a strong culture of collaboration and best practice. You will be part of our trust’s senior leaders’ network and will have development opportunities at regular intervals including our leadership events and other trust opportunities.

Unity Schools Partnership celebrates both professional development and career progression. The Teaching school which is part of Unity will support the successful candidate in this post and their future career.

You will:

  • Lead personal development and belonging across the school and community: student leadership, careers, extracurricular opportunities, working with our parent association and enhancing our already strong links with organisations and other schools across the town

  • Support the Headteacher in delivery of the school vision, for all students.
