Are you a passionate and experienced Music Teacher looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Head of Music to lead a vibrant music department and drive forward the development of music education at a wonderful school.

This role begins September 2025.

Head of Music duties:

  • Lead, manage, and inspire the music department, fostering a love for music among students and staff
  • Develop and deliver a high-quality music curriculum that is engaging, inclusive, and challenging
  • Lead the planning, organisation, and delivery of music performances, concerts, and extracurricular activities
  • Oversee the development of schemes of work, assessments, and resources for the department
  • Support and mentor music teachers and other department staff to help them grow professionally
  • Manage the department’s budget, resources, and equipment
  • Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment in the department
  • Work with senior leadership to set and implement the department’s vision and goals

Ideal Head of Music:

  • A degree in Music or a related subject
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS)
  • Proven experience teaching music at secondary school level, with a track record of successful leadership
  • Strong knowledge of the music curriculum and examination specifications
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills as Head of Music
  • A passion for music and a commitment to fostering a thriving and inclusive department
