We are a leading UK-based Events Management SaaS company seeking an experienced PHP Developer for a 3-month contract, potentially ongoing. This role is ideal for a skilled developer with a strong background in PHP. You will be working on optimising and streamlining our live platform, ensuring stability and performance improvements.

Role Info:

Current Tech Includes: PHP, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, Codeigniter 3

Methodologies: Agile/Kanban, TDD/BDD, Continuous integration and Delivery.

PHP Developer:

We are looking for a PHP Developer to join us on a 3-month contract, helping to optimise and streamline our live platform. While we have a talented development team, we need someone who can take a holistic view of our products, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and future-proof.

Our products, both internal and customer-facing, are primarily built in PHP within a LAMP environment.

Although we are in the background building a more scalable, transferable tech stack, our immediate focus is on enhancing our current platform by introducing efficiencies, optimisations, and necessary code refactoring. Our systems process large amounts of data daily, requiring solutions that work across both small and large-scale clients.

In this role, you will work closely with our dev team to identify and implement improvements, ensuring our platform is stable, scalable, and meets business needs.

Requirements

What are the role requirements:

You will have experience with most of the following:

  • 5 years of current, professional experience as a PHP Software Engineer.
  • Experience with systems that process and handle large amounts of data.
  • Analysing existing systems and increasing efficiencies.
  • Experience with highly scalable database platforms and have delivered Enterprise distributed cloud applications.
  • A good understanding of modern web security standards and methodologies.
  • Experience in background processing, queuing, scheduling and multithreading.

Technical Experience:

  • Language: PHP (7.4+), Javascript, HTML, CSS
  • Frameworks: Any PHP framework such as Codeigniter, Laravel, CakePHP, Symfony 2 (or equivalent)
  • Database and Datastores: MySQL 5.7
  • Operating system: Linux (Ubuntu)

Bonus knowledge:

  • Apache server, message queue architecture
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS).
  • Experience with JQuery and Bootstrap
  • Experience with building continuous integration pipelines (Jenkins, Docker and Kurbernetes).
