Lead Teacher in Chemistry
We are looking for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and passionate teacher of science to take on a lead role in chemistry within our highly successful science team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing chemistry across KS3 and KS4 in collaboration with the department.
In Years 7 and 8, all students follow an integrated science course and chemistry is taught as a separate subject, by subject specialists, from Year 9. At GCSE, students are offered either the AQA Trilogy course, leading to two GCSEs in science, or the option of AQA separate sciences and achieving GCSE qualifications in separate biology, chemistry and physics.
The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing, designing and overseeing the schemes of work at KS3 and 4 and will be accountable for student progress and development within chemistry across all 5 years.
GCSE results in science are consistently strong. In 2024, 87% of all chemistry GCSE entries were awarded grades 5+, 98.1% of Biology entries were awarded grades 5+ and 96.3% of Physics entries were awarded 5+. For the Trilogy GCSE course, 79.1% achieved 4+ and
- 5 % achieved 5+.
