Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist - Neurosplinting Service

A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking a 0.6WTE (22.5hrs) Band 7 Occupational Therapist for 7 months, on a secondment basis, specialising in Neuro-Splinting.

You would also have responsibility for the development and supervision of more junior staff and students and be part of the senior leadership team in specialist rehabilitation.

You will sit within the Spasticity Team, Specialist Rehabilitation and Therapies Business Unit and be managed by and receive supervision from the Operational Lead, Specialist Rehabilitation.

As an integral part of the Spasticity multidisciplinary team ( Rehabilitation Medicine) you will have clear links internally with inpatient neuro rehab teams (KL and Stroke) as well as the outpatient therapy teams in Specialist Rehab, ensuring both peer and professional support is available from various sources.

To be the clinical lead for Spasticity and Neurological Splinting within Neurological Rehabilitation

To lead the development of the neurological splinting service across the Trust with responsibility for teaching and developing competencies in this specialist area.

To provide advanced specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment of patients with neurological conditions who may have diverse presentations and complex needs, in a variety of clinical settings.

To ensure that Neurological Rehabilitation Services in Derby are engaged in relevant research projects/clinical trials and implement and evaluate new and innovative clinically effective treatment techniques in order to establish Derby as a centre of excellence.
