Job overview

North London NHS Foundation Trust is embarking on an ambitious transformation to redefine how mental health care is delivered across North Central London. As part of our Mental Health Provider Review, we are focused on delivering four key aims: reducing health inequalities, eliminating service variation, improving outcomes for service users, and creating a sustainable workforce.

As we align with the government’s forthcoming ten-year plan, which calls for a shift from hospital to community, analogue to digital, and sickness to prevention, we are recruiting a Chief Digital and Information Officer to drive our digital transformation agenda.

This is a pivotal Board-level role, reporting directly to the Chief Executive, with strategic responsibilities spanning the Trust. You will lead the Trust’s digital and information strategy, ensuring technology and data are leveraged to enhance patient care, improve performance, and create operational excellence across services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible to the Chief Executive for developing and delivering the Trust’s Digital and Information strategy. They will provide strategic support to the Chair, Chief Executive and the other Board members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive digital transformation initiatives including data governance, digital infrastructure, and systems innovation
  • Ensure robust information security and compliance with data protection standards
  • Embed digital solutions that support a high-performing, efficient and responsive mental health service
  • Work in close partnership with system leaders across North Central London to support a digitally enabled, neighbourhood-based NHS

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Graduate level education and/or professional qualification.
  • Educated to master’s degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to operate confidently within complex and ambiguous change environments.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen and judgment, understanding the need for efficient services and well commissioned services.
  • Experience in the execution of stakeholder engagement exercises, and a skilled influencer who is outcome focused

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience in a highly complex environment at a Board or sub-Board level
  • Significant experience of working with external stakeholders, including Regulators.
  • Experience in developing and implementing information strategies and leading digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and interoperability challenges.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of mental health and or community health and social care delivery.
