English Teacher – Full-Time

A secondary school in Fareham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English teacher to join their team full-time after the February half-term. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire and engage students across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a love for English literature and language.
The ideal candidate will have at least six months of teaching experience in UK schools and be confident in planning and delivering high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners. You will be responsible for marking and assessing students' work, ensuring they make progress and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons that align with the national curriculum.
  • Assess, mark, and provide feedback on students' work to track progress and support development.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of students, ensuring all pupils are challenged and supported.
  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and engagement, following the school’s behaviour policies.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to create an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.
  • Develop students' analytical, creative, and communication skills through effective teaching methods.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and across the school.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and parent's evenings as required.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, such as school trips, clubs, or literacy interventions, to enhance student's learning experience.

Expectations:

  • A minimum of six month's experience teaching in UK schools, ideally within a secondary setting.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a passion for teaching.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and parents effectively.
  • Ability to plan and deliver well-structured lessons that cater to different learning styles.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • A commitment to professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
