An esteemed Multi-Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of Computer Science to join the permanent teaching staff of one of its high-achieving secondary schools in Reading. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire and develop students' digital skills in a thriving and forward-thinking learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and innovative Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
- Foster a stimulating classroom environment that encourages student curiosity and enthusiasm for technology and programming.
- Plan and assess lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and examination board requirements.
- Support and mentor students in developing computational thinking, coding proficiency, and problem-solving skills.
- Contribute to the wider school community, including extracurricular clubs and initiatives related to Computer Science and technology.
- Collaborate with colleagues to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning within the department.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications: A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a specialism in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience: Prior experience teaching Computer Science at secondary level is desirable, but applications from ECTs (Early Career Teachers) are also welcomed.
- Subject Knowledge: Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, as well as an understanding of broader computing principles including algorithms, networking, and cybersecurity.
- Teaching Skills: Ability to deliver dynamic and student-centred lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
- Commitment: A proactive and enthusiastic approach to education, with a passion for inspiring young minds and contributing to the school's ethos.
- Safeguarding: Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
