Hours - 37 hours per week

Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity to work with a College based in Cambridge. The school are looking for a Caretaker to assist in ensuring the site is in order and maintaining the physical environment of, and access to, the College and its assets.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining the physical condition of the buildings, furniture and equipment.
  • Carry out cleaning & janitorial tasks throughout the College, as required, using specialist cleaning equipment, when necessary.
  • Conduct checks of the College's appearance and carry out extra cleaning duties as required, when necessary.
  • Assist with distribution of post, packages & deliveries.
  • Monitor that College buildings are adequately heated and report faults.
  • Assist in ensuring adequate lighting is available by replacing light bulbs and tubes as necessary.
  • Assist in the checks, maintenance and repairs to grounds, buildings, fixtures, furniture and equipment as required.
  • Report the need for specialist repairs to line manager.
  • Direct and supervise tradesmen and contractors to the sites of repair and maintenance work.
  • Clear blockages of drains and gullies as required.
  • Clear snow from grounds and salts stairs, paths, and roads, ensuring safe access to the College.
  • Assist in ensuring all Caretaking equipment is in safe working order.
  • Assist in providing emergency cover, i.e. disaster recovery etc.
  • Maintain access to the College in cases of emergency.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Numeracy & Literacy skills
  • Experience in related/relative field
  • Able to work on all College Sites
  • Willingness to work in minor shifts patterns (as detailed in Conditions of Service point 2 above)
  • Ability to carry out minor maintenance tasks
  • Lift & carry furniture etc. and undertake porterage duties
  • Become a Fire Marshall
  • Good initiative
  • Able to work as a member of a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
