Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity to work with a College based in Cambridge. The school are looking for a Caretaker to assist in ensuring the site is in order and maintaining the physical environment of, and access to, the College and its assets.
Roles and Responsibilities- Assist in maintaining the physical condition of the buildings, furniture and equipment.
- Carry out cleaning & janitorial tasks throughout the College, as required, using specialist cleaning equipment, when necessary.
- Conduct checks of the College's appearance and carry out extra cleaning duties as required, when necessary.
- Assist with distribution of post, packages & deliveries.
- Monitor that College buildings are adequately heated and report faults.
- Assist in ensuring adequate lighting is available by replacing light bulbs and tubes as necessary.
- Assist in the checks, maintenance and repairs to grounds, buildings, fixtures, furniture and equipment as required.
- Report the need for specialist repairs to line manager.
- Direct and supervise tradesmen and contractors to the sites of repair and maintenance work.
- Clear blockages of drains and gullies as required.
- Clear snow from grounds and salts stairs, paths, and roads, ensuring safe access to the College.
- Assist in ensuring all Caretaking equipment is in safe working order.
- Assist in providing emergency cover, i.e. disaster recovery etc.
- Maintain access to the College in cases of emergency.
- Numeracy & Literacy skills
- Experience in related/relative field
- Able to work on all College Sites
- Willingness to work in minor shifts patterns (as detailed in Conditions of Service point 2 above)
- Ability to carry out minor maintenance tasks
- Lift & carry furniture etc. and undertake porterage duties
- Become a Fire Marshall
- Good initiative
- Able to work as a member of a team
