Position Summary:

Due to continued growth, we looking for an experienced Paralegal to support settlement of claims within our successful Subrogation and Recovery team.

General Background, Experience & Professional Qualifications:

You’ll have previous Litigation experience teamed with handling sensitive and confidential information, ideally gained within the Claimant Insurance sector, although similar industry experience is just as valuable to us. A relevant qualification would be ideal, but if you’re qualified by experience and can demonstrate this then that’s just as valuable to us too. You’ll also need:

  • The ability to build relationships at all levels, communicate effectively and build trust and influence stakeholders.
  • Be flexible in supporting senior fee earners, to share the workload and for personal development
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced environment, with no two days the same giving variety and a personal challenge
  • Keep up to date with case law and legislation
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • A positive attitude and a proactive approach to solving problems.
  • Willingness to support colleagues and peers and offer help.
  • Responsiveness to change and change management
  • Good Time management
  • Good IT skills, detail orientated.

Key Responsibilities:

You’ll be assigned your own caseload of claims to manage, so you’ll have process ownership from pre-litigation, driving claims through to litigation and final settlement. Most claims will be civil litigation (contract, tort and statute), so dispute resolution will pay a large part of your work, alongside drafting court proceedings, relevant legal documentation and gathering all information associated by speaking with clients and witnesses.

Effective negotiation is key: You will be undertaking factual and legal research, gathering evidence to support and creating a clear case plan for the desired outcome to be approved by a supervisor.
