Marketing and Communications Lead

THIS Labs (which runs the platform Thiscovery) is a unique new social business, spun out from the University of Cambridge and supported generously with social investment from The Health Foundation. Our purpose is to support innovation and improvement in health and care by leveraging the insights of patients, staff and the public.

The Marketing and Communications Lead is a crucial hire for us - the right candidate will be able to shape the marketing and communications strategy of the business, reporting to the CEO to deliver both commercial success and grow our impact.

They will have both responsibility and freedom to act to help to deliver the ambitious goals of the business.

We're looking for someone with experience in and a passion for health and care, a creative streak, great ideas and plenty of energy for delivery.

Main Duties

Strategy:

  • You will lead on the development, delivery and evaluation of the marketing and engagement strategy in order to enable us to achieve our revenue targets, meet customer needs and create and scale our impact.
  • The strategy will cover campaigns, events, content creation (physical and digital) and brand awareness.
  • Working with the Business Development team and CEO you will contribute to key strategic decisions such as pricing, target market segments and feed into the commercial strategy.

Marketing:

Supported by the Marketing Executive, you will act to raise awareness of our brand and value proposition and contribute to building a pipeline of revenue-generating opportunities through activities including, but not limited to:

  • Creating a social media strategy across a range of relevant platforms
  • Creating useful and engaging thought-leadership content that speaks to our market across a range of media
  • Developing a programme of webinars and other online events
  • In-person events (both those run by us and those run by others)
  • Lead on development and management of marketing section of the corporate website including content and design.

Brand Management:

  • You will act as a guardian of company’s Brand and Digital Assets. Working with the CEO and other colleagues in the organisation you will lead on developing and protecting company’s brand.
  • You will develop brand guidelines and ensure adherence to it by effectively communicating with the staff and external parties.
  • You will ensure compliance with brand guidelines in all external communication including email signatures, document and presentation templates.

Evaluation:

  • Using data-driven approaches you will evaluate the success of THIS Labs’ marketing and in particular the cost-effectiveness of individual initiatives.
  • You will use this information to optimise the productivity and efficiency of our marketing activity.
  • You will assess and provide key information in relation to analytics generated from social media, website and other digital channels to help shape up the development of platform roadmap.

Financial Management:

  • You will manage the marketing budget, including setting the budget on an annual basis, monitoring expenditure and ensuring that costs do not exceed budget.
  • You will take responsibility for the efficient use of resources.

Building Customer Relationships:

Working closely with the Business Development team you will use targeted marketing techniques to help build THIS Labs’ relationships with key stakeholders, with a view to understanding the needs of our customers across a range of fields including academia, NHS providers, national bodies and health tech companies.

Quality and Innovation:

  • Through your work you may identify opportunities for innovation in product and service design.
  • You will work collaboratively and creatively to deliver customer requirements, but also keep THIS Labs on the leading edge of support for health and care improvement.

Line management:

  • You will line manage the Marketing Executive.
