Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education are working with a special educational needs school in Leeds to recruit for two Teaching Assistants. The successful applicant will work closely with special educational needs students, aged 4-16 years.
Within this role you will work closely with students to ensure they have the opportunity to get the best out of their education and the chance to improve their outcomes by reengaging in education. The school takes a therapeutic approach to build rapport with students and all staff work to encourage positive relationships.
Overview of Responsibilities:- Support students with a range of special educational needs including, ASC, ADHD, Attachment Disorders, Learning Difficulties such as, Dyslexia. Students are aged 719 years.
- Work 1-1 and with small groups of students.
- Support class teachers as required.
- Be able to effectively manage and deescalate challenging behaviour.
- Understand students' unique needs and provide appropriate emotional and academic support.
- Build rapport and trust with students to support them with their social, emotional and mental health.
- Hold experience working with young people with special educational needs, ideally within an educational setting but other experience is considered.
- Be able to demonstrate experience of behaviour de-escalation, restoration, and management.
- Have a sound understanding of social emotional mental health and how to best support individuals.
- You should be an empathetic, patient and resilient individual, with a passion for supporting young people.
- Full Time Role Monday - Friday, in Leeds Term Time.
- Working hours 8:30am - 3:30pm.
- Temporary to Permanent Contract available.
- 13 weeks (65 days) holiday per annum.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
