The Intelligence Threat Officer maintains a knowledge and understanding of the triage and processing of all information received into the Intelligence Unit, proactively develops strategic intelligence pictures and directs tactical priorities against key threats, as well as builds and maintains relationships across the business and works with other Intelligence Officers, analysts and caseworkers to deliver Intelligence led enforcement.

They act as an internal and external contact point for the collection, evaluation and dissemination of intelligence relating to Goods and Public Service Vehicle operations, MOT garages and practical and theory driving test fraud.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Examines information received into the Intelligence Unit and assesses it against current strategic and tactical priorities to help direct the gathering of intelligence and identification of intelligence gaps against key threats and emerging operational issues and trends.
  • Stimulates the flow of intelligence within Enforcement Networks by fostering good communication channels with operational staff in all locations by visiting DVSA offices providing advice and guidance to staff where necessary.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the Police, Other Government Agencies and where necessary, industry partners in order to encourage a free flow of information relating to Goods and Public Service Vehicle Operations, MOT garages and Driver and Rider activities that assists in the enforcement of the non-compliant.
