Role Description
Reporting to the Head of Business Development and Commercialisation, the AI & Cell Therapy Business Scientist is a perceptive scientist who sees the big picture and helps drive business development by ensuring technical accuracy of our offer, troubleshooting possible solutions, and striving for thought leadership in the public space.This approachable communicator appreciates how cell therapy process development involves grit and has the EQ to navigate cooperation between academia, industry, and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities- Technology Development and Research Services – Collaborates with biology and computational R&D teams to hone scientific accuracy and feasibility of cell characterisation technology/software features and biological research services offered, involving leadership and hands-on work to ensure execution.
- Customer Problem Analysis – Inquisitively troubleshoots customer cell therapy development challenges solvable with AI and advanced analytics to articulate well-written and concise planned actions, often despite limited information and varying levels of urgency advising caution where appropriate and occasionally, to not proceed.
- Communication and Community – Dives deep or simplifies AI Cell Therapy scientific concepts so that a broad audience can understand the FateView™ platform offering. Proactively engages with scientific thought leaders at conferences and in the cell therapy community to build credibility and momentum, driving the conversation to new and innovative places for publications and publicity.
- Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in AI or life sciences in a relevant discipline such as stem cell biology, omics, bioanalytics, or bioinformatics
- Combined understanding of AI and cell therapy pharmaceutical process and analytical development through formal education or self-guided learning.
- Keen interest or experience working towards Customer or Business Outcomes.
- Minimum of 2 years of Industry experience.
- Preferred Experience
- Ph.D in a relevant biology discipline such as stem cell biology, omics, bioanalytics, or bioinformatics.
- Advanced degree in AI or computer science discipline, and staying up to date with AI trends in computer vision, data collection, process optimisation, and/or ML-enabled microscopy imaging.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python), cloud infrastructure (e.g., Google Cloud), software (e.g., GitHub, Docker), ML model design and scientific libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy and Pandas).
- Experience with Cell Therapy Conferences such as: Advanced Therapies Week (Phacilitate), Allogeneic Cell Therapies Summit, ASGCT, ISCT, or Meeting on the Mesa, or AI conferences such as: AAAI, ICCV, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ECCV, IJCV, and NeurIPS.
- Track record of success with business to business (B2B) processes involving licensed products, Research Service Agreements, or Software as a Service (SaaS) including use of project management or CRM software
- Industry expertise with pharmaceutical cell therapy development including preclinical and clinical process and analytical development, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Design of Experiment, and Regulatory and Quality guidance by FDA and other authorities.
