General Manager
Job overview
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic operational manager to undertake the role of General Manager in the Long Term, Urgent, Cancer and Community (LTUCC) Directorate at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a critical senior operational manager post, with the post holder being a core member of the Senior Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of operational delivery within their portfolio. This role will have a specific focus on the delivery of planned care within LTUCC (there being a separate general manager post for urgent, emergency and community care delivery) including being responsible for the delivery of the NHS priorities pertaining to planned care and service transformation in the LTUCC Directorate, as outlined in 2025/26 NHS Planning Guidance.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Directorate’s Operational Director, and working closely with care group triumvirate teams, the post holder must be experienced at managing a complex and demanding workload with a clear track record for delivery.
As a leadership team, we promote compassionate leadership focussed on creating the best conditions for teams to be successful. We promote a high support and high challenge environment. As such a values-driven approach to your leadership is as important as the delivery of your core performance objectives.
The post will lead in ensuring the sustained delivery (or recovery) of key operational service targets and will be responsible for reconciling this with the delivery of high quality care and financial sustainability.
