Whitby is a pretty traditional seaside town in North Yorkshire, situated on the east coast at the mouth of the River Esk.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include:
- Assisting qualified staff by undertaking personal care duties for patients.
- Reporting the patient condition to qualified staff.
- Undertaking delegated work of the multidisciplinary team to assist in the provision of individualised planned patient care under indirect supervision. Care tasks may include managing the day-to-day needs of patients by providing help with personal care, meals and mobility.
- Working as part of a team which supports the operation of the ward 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will therefore be required to work shifts including nights, days and weekends

Person specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria- Range of routine work procedures, requiring job training
- Knowledge of personal care and related procedures
- NVQ2 or equivalent experience
- Care Certificate
- Be willing to undertake further training and development.
- To possess a health related NVQ qualification or demonstrate willingness to work towards one.
Experience
Essential criteria- To demonstrate an understanding of provision of nursing care.
- To act in a responsible manner.
- To have experience of working in a health care environment.
Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria- Good communication skills
- Demonstrate an understanding of team working.
- Must be flexible
- Work within other areas of the Hospital.
- Must be able to work shifts within a 24-hour period.
- Demonstrate and awareness of own and others competencies.
- Show commitment to providing high standards of care.

Where operationally feasible the Trust supports agile working, there is an expectation of attendance of 1 day per week at a Trust site as a minimum operationally. Unless specifically stated in the advert that a role will have home as the base of work, all roles will have the option to work from a Trust base if remote working is not for you.
If required for the post the ability to commute within the Trusts geographical area with access to the appropriate means of transport would be essential.
