The Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit based within St Ann’s Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join our team.

Haven Male is a 7 bedded male PICU that provides a high level of effective and compassionate care to men who are experiencing the most acute phase of a serious mental disorder. This includes working with individuals presenting with psychotic disorders, mood disorders, complex trauma and personality disorders.

We aim to promote a calm and therapeutic approach in a low stimulus environment where our patients are supported by a friendly, skilled and enthusiastic team that enables them to move forwards with their recovery.

We are a service that constantly strives to improve the quality of nursing care that we provide to our patients. We have a progressive focus around initiatives such as Reducing Restrictive Interventions and Recognising Positive Practice. This is also an exciting opportunity for nurses working in other settings of mental health nursing who would like to utilise and apply their skills in a specialist environment, caring for people with a wide variety of presenting problems and needs.

As a specialist service, we are able to provide opportunities to further develop your skills within specialised training such as RAID, Relational Security, DBT, CBT, enhanced risk assessment, and enhanced physical health interventions. Following successful completion of your 6 month probation period, you will meet with your supervisor to discuss your personal development plan which will identify your learning and training needs, so we can ensure you have all the skills you need to be the best you can be in your role.
