A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join BEAR Scotland’s team looking after the 1,422km of trunk roads and associated 1501 bridges and structures under the Scottish Trunk Roads Network Management Contract for the North West of Scotland. The North West Unit stretches from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute and from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling in the central belt through some of Scotland’s most scenic countryside.
We are looking for a Design Team Leader to lead our Category 1 design team dealing with Priority Defect Repairs.
Responsibilities and Activities:
Responsible for managing the team designing the repairs for Category 1 defects on the North West Unit that are identified by the BEAR Scotland inspection teams.Reporting to the Asset Manager, the Design Team Leader will ensure that Category 1 defect repairs are designed and issued to the Operations Team as quickly as possible to allow repairs to be completed within contractual timescales, ensure designs are compliant with the Construction (Design and Maintenance) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015)
Design, preparation of drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and Operations Instructions for repairing priority defects and the associated infrastructure.Comply with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures that form part of the company’s Integrated Management Systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Qualified to HNC or HND level, if not qualified will be given opportunity to study for theseGood communication skills
Computer literate
A full approved UK driving licence
Working knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, outlook
Appreciation of CDM 2015 and relevant Health and Safety legislation
