Eastlea Community School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic part time teacher of Drama, for two (2) days a week on a fixed term contract, starting 1st September 2025 to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will be committed to improving the best outcomes for their students.

Here at Eastlea, Drama is a part of the Arts and Technology faculty which comprises Drama, Music, Fine Art and Design Technology. Our students enjoy drama and the opportunities it provides for them to be creative, collaborative, perform, build resilience and develop a passion for drama.

The new appointment will be a highly skilled practitioner who will have opportunities to further build the drama subject area.

Eastlea is a 11-16 comprehensive school in East London and our vision is to provide a safe, kind and welcoming community where everyone is valued, where diversity is celebrated and relationships are rooted in mutual respect. Our community has the highest aspirations and expectations for all.

We are keen to appoint a dedicated colleague who is eager to support our students to achieve in all aspects of their life and who wants to be a key contributor to our school's success. Currently, Eastlea is at an exciting time in its development, as we are a part of the Newham Community Learning Trust which consists of three other local secondaries and two local primary schools.

Newham Community Learning Trust has a strong reputation for working with local Newham schools for the benefit of the whole community. Any member of staff who joins Eastlea at this time, will benefit from the sharing of expertise and professional development opportunities that exist across the Trust.

A strength that we are proud of, is our diverse staff and student community. We are a school where multiple languages are spoken and cultures are celebrated. We are fortunate to have outstanding facilities; in drama we have a purpose built theatre which seats 250 and purpose built drama studios.

All of our facilities give us the opportunity to deliver a broad curriculum and offer extra-curricular opportunities to nurture interests beyond the curriculum.

Please refer to the Job description and Person Specification when completing your application.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need a full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, which can be applied for once a job offer is made.
