An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated band 2 perioperative care support worker to join our friendly team in theatre at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

This post is a permanent position contracted to 37.5 hours. The successful applicant will be based at The Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The Post Holder will undertake delegated duties, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Operating department practitioner, and following a period of training and completion of core competencies.

Assisting in the care of the surgical patient during the peri-operative period by supporting all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Carry out activities such as moving and transferring patients between beds and operating tables in a safe manner, with the minimum discomfort to patients, using appropriate aids and equipment.

Support registered staff in providing a safe, high-quality peri-operative environment for carrying out a range of surgical procedures.

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Assist in the care of patients during their peri-operative journey.
  • Assist registered staff in the preparation of the perioperative environment.
  • Assist the clinical team as required.
  • Assist in the general upkeep, and maintenance of stock levels.
  • Provide a safe peri-operative environment that minimises the risk of infection.
  • Carry out some administrative and computer duties.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • NVQ Level 2 in health/social care or possess equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.

Experience

  • Previous NHS Hospital experience or previous work in a care environment.
