An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join Therapy Services in the post of Receptionist at Homerton Healthcare and Sir Ludwig Gutman to deliver excellent service to our patients and a smooth and efficient support to our clinical team.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to work within our fast-paced service. Applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of their organisational skills, be a committed team player with the ability to priorities their own workload, and work well under pressure.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential with the role requiring high level of computer based skills. The successful applicant must be flexible, adaptable, and have a willingness to embrace change as and when required. The ability to use initiative when dealing with unexpected situations is also an advantage.

Role will be cross-site and the successful applicant will be expected to cover Homerton and Sir Ludwig Gutman

Main duties of the job

Key duties include:

  • To be the first point of call for patients and staff member when entering the department, contributing to the overall efficient and effective running of designated outpatient clinics.
  • To work closely with Supervisor, APP'S, Physiotherapist, Speech and Language therapist and Dietitians to ensure that any issues in clinic are raised immediately to maintain an excellent level of service to patients.
  • To manage the booking of designated new & follow up clinics and ensure that these are booked efficiently and that any booking issues are raised immediately with supervisor/Service Manager and clinicians to ensure patient care is not compromised

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Grade A-C English and Mathematics or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant training in admin and customer care areas

Skills/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Ability to prioritise a competing and demanding workload
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working understanding of windows-based applications e.g., Word, Excel, Access
  • Effective time management skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to use databases and spreadsheets including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manipulate data and undertake simple audits.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience administration or reception experience
  • Customer services experience
  • Experience of developing rotas and ensuring consistent cover for service in times of low staffing
  • Experience of using patient information management systems. Working knowledge of Data Quality issues
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in acute hospital settings.
  • Experience of using Microsoft teams; attend anywhere and Envoy tech text messaging
  • Experience of systems such as EPR (Electronic patient records), EMIS and ESR.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues
  • Knowledge/understanding of the Data Protection Act
  • Understanding of current NHS policies and targets affecting service delivery
  • Knowledge of office procedures including creating and maintaining adequate filing systems
  • Knowledge of scheduling systems
Desirable criteria
  • Basic knowledge of therapy service types of activity
