The Urology Department at Ashford and St Peters Hospitals are looking to recruit a nursing post who has passion commitment to continuously develop our service within a busy acute hospital.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Urology Nurse based in the Urology Centre based at St Peter’s hospital.

The purpose of this post is to contribute to an expert specialised service in Urology that positively impacts on the experience of patients and carers by providing high standards of clinical practice and care in keeping with the Trusts core values.

You will be expected to have some surgical nursing experience however full training and support will be provided by our experienced nursing team.

You will be working in collaboration with the Urology Nursing Team and Urology Consultants. Experience will be gained in a diverse range of clinical interventions/investigations in the urological field and full training and developmental support will be provided.

Main duties of the job

This Band 5 position will provide a varied role including overlooking a multifaceted Speciality which includes recovery of post operative patients, the flexible cystoscopy service, urology treatments, lithotripsy and outpatient clinics. The position will also provide training to assist with local template biopsy lists.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First level NMC Registered Nurse with some surgical experience
  • Diploma in nursing or equivalent knowledge and skills

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working on co-ordinating function within multi-disciplinary team
  • Recent evidence of developing nursing practice within clinical setting

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively within team, interdepartmental and community partners to ensure high standards of care and treatment.
  • Able to provide customer focussed care.
  • Demonstrate honest, reliable and trustworthy behaviours.
