Introduction to Key4Life
Since 2012, Key4Life has been working with young men in prison and those at risk of falling into criminal behaviour to break the cycle of offending and reoffending among young men aged 18-30. Through a disciplined and proven 7- Step Model, we focus on addressing the root causes of offending, develop skills and provide opportunities to raise employability, secure employment and offer on-going support to sustain positive change.As well as supporting people to transform their lives, we also play a significant part in reducing the cost to society of reoffending.
About the role
You will be responsible for supervising the Key Mentors/Trainee Caseworkers and the funder’s deliverables alongside a caseload of 18–30-year-old ex-offenders or those at risk of offending, supporting these people who are at risk of going to prison or have been in prison through Key4Life’s 7-step model.You will use all your local and community knowledge, business connections and agency networks to create real employment opportunities for these people to thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring your case working team upholds Key4Life’s standards and is compliant at all times
- Ensuring all programme targets are met and reports are submitted in a timely manner
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders
- Oversee and manage a small case load of participants ensuring appropriate support is given to them according to their needs
- Provide on the ground support when required and support with reporting requirements
- Creating 1-1 action plans for participants
- Supporting them in obtaining work, such as assisting with job applications, CV writing & benefit/housing applications when necessary
- Supervise and troubleshoot daily workload of the caseworkers
- Oversee any safeguarding concerns and ensure all processes are compliant
- To ensure all service user information, interventions and other data as required by the contract are recorded on the relevant data management system
- Continual weekly updating of Key4Life secure database with the regional coordinator
- Liaise effectively with local partner organisations and other relevant agencies to ensure effective referrals and risk management of the participants
- Ensure all risk assessments and activity risk assessments are carried out and updated where necessary
- Be responsible for the allocation of referrals and ensure caseload management structures are in place
Skills and Requirements:
- Significant experience of working with 18–25-year-olds
- Experience of managing/mentoring a caseload
- Experience of working with ex-offenders/young offenders
- Knowledge of issues around risk and vulnerability amongst young people.
- Knowledge of engagement and intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of appropriate youth policies.
- Understanding and experience of Performance Management.
- Experience of using recording and data collation systems.
- Good organisational skills (for self and others).
- Work effectively in a team.
- To be able to adopt a flexible approach to all aspects of work.
- Problem solving and a “can do” attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
