The Role
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a busy and supportive finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be part of a small team in a friendly, collaborative, open-plan office environment. This is a hands-on opportunity offering exposure to supporting with month-end processes and management accounts preparation, plus financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation and posting of accruals and prepayments
- Posting invoice accrual journals
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations following month-end close
- Managing reconciliations and recharge processes
- Supporting monthly forecasting and annual budgeting
- Assisting the Management Accountant with the production of information for the monthly accounts
- Weekly cashbook reconciliations
- Processing and posting journals
- Reviewing and reconciling stock balances
- Providing holiday cover across the finance team
- Producing ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required
- Previous working experience in a similar level accounting role
- Strong experience and understanding of debits, credits, journals, and reconciliations
- Experience supporting month-end and management accounts processes
- Comfortable working with financial data and overhead analysis
- Good Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
- Ideally AAT qualified, studying, or equivalent experience
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Well organised with strong attention to detail
