Teaching Assistant
Hays are recruiting a Full-Time Teaching Assistant in Rhondda Cynon Taf for a 3-16 Comprehensive, working in the Secondary School setting. The role itself shall consist of supporting a year 8 student with additional learning needs on a 1:1 basis.
You will be expected to offer support for the student when engaging with lesson plans and reading materials, as well as supporting with potentially challenging behaviour when required. The school has a fantastic teaching staff who pride themselves on the caring, supportive, and inclusive environment they create and maintain for their students.
The staff are eager to expand their ranks and welcome eager, enthusiastic, and positive members to the team.
Your new roleThe role is confirmed long-term for an immediate start, working 5 days a week. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:
- Working 1:1 with a year 8 student with additional learning needs and some aspects of challenging behaviour.
- Supporting the implementation and delivery of a lesson plan, ensuring that students are engaged in their work.
- Demonstrating high levels of patience, empathy, and care when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
- Creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and enjoyable learning environment.
- Working closely with fellow staff members and class teachers as part of a positive and welcoming teaching team.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering within a school or with children over the course of the last 2 - 3 years. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this role include empathy, calmness, respect, and patience.Further desired traits include responsiveness, problem-solving skills, commitment, and a high degree of motivation.
