The school are currently seeking a skilled and committed Specialist Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Tutor as soon as possible. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified tutor passionate about making a difference for students with specific learning difficulties.
This role requires a high level of dedication and an understanding of the unique challenges students with dyslexia and dyscalculia face. As a tutor, your impact will extend beyond academic improvement to fostering a positive and empowering learning environment for each pupil.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver Specialised Tutoring: Provide 2 hours per week of structured, specialised tutoring focused on dyslexia and dyscalculia interventions.
- Assessment and Planning: Conduct regular assessments to gauge each student’s progress and adapt tutoring strategies to meet their evolving needs.
- Supportive Environment: Cultivate a patient, encouraging, and non-judgmental atmosphere that enables students to build confidence in their abilities.
- Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly document student progress and communicate updates to both the SEND team and parents/carers, highlighting achievements and any areas needing further support.
- Resource Development: Create and adapt teaching resources to make learning engaging and accessible, ensuring they are aligned with students' learning profiles.
- Specialist Dyslexia Qualification: Minimum Level 5 qualification in Dyslexia Support.
- Expertise in Dyscalculia: Additional training and experience in supporting students with dyscalculia is highly desirable.
- Experience: A proven track record of working successfully with students with dyslexia and dyscalculia at the secondary school level.
- Commitment: A genuine dedication to supporting and empowering students with specific learning difficulties, along with the ability to inspire and motivate them.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience and Empathy: An understanding, compassionate approach to tutoring, with a commitment to celebrating each student’s progress, however incremental.
