The Role

Scarborough College is an independent boarding and day school for children aged 3 to 18.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and inspiring part-time English Teacher to join this thriving school as our numbers increase, commencing September 2025.

A good honours degree in English is essential, as well as a PGCE or equivalent. Experience of teaching to Advanced Level is essential along with the ability to teach to Higher Level International Baccalaureate (IB). You will have a good track record of teaching and academic success for students.

Familiarity with G Suite for Education and Management Information Systems would be advantageous, as would experience of teaching international students.

It is also important that the successful candidate is able to contribute to the full co-curricular and pastoral life of the College.

Benefits include discounted fees for employees' children who enrol with the College.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants must either apply through TES directly, or complete the Scarborough College application form which can be downloaded from this advert or from the College's website. We will not accept CVs unless they are accompanied by a fully completed application form.

Applicants may also include a covering letter. References will be contacted on receipt of application unless otherwise requested - please ensure you include sufficient references to cover the past five years of employment, including current employer and most recent roles working with children or young people.

Please complete and submit your application via TES, by hand, or via email to hr@scarboroughcollege.co.uk, by 5.00 p.m. on the closing date of Wednesday 26 February. Interviews will commence from Monday 3 March.

The Headmaster, Guy Emmett, will be happy to answer any questions informally prior to an application. He can be contacted at the College by telephone (01723 380 601) or by e-mail to headmaster@scarboroughcollege.co.uk.

Scarborough College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening including checks with past employers, online presence checks, prohibition orders and an enhanced DBS.
