Come and join a specialist and highly experienced team of psychologists and assistants working as part of an effective, enthusiastic and dynamic multidisciplinary team in our newly reconfigured Regional Inpatient CAMHS Hospital for young people age 12-17 years old.

Parkview is situated between Kings Heath and Moseley, in South Birmingham. We have a Specialist Eating Disorders and general adolescent units. You will work closely with family therapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, medics and nursing teams in a fast paced environment.

We welcome applications from Clinical and Forensic Psychologists. The post could either be appointed as a band 7 preceptorship working towards an 8a position, or at an 8a depending upon skills and experience. Responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly.

These skills are nurtured and developed from the moment you join the team, through training and supervision of individual work and service development projects. We are innovative and creative and we are looking for others who would like to join the team.

Main duties of the job

Join us and contribute to the development of our trauma-informed, inclusive, recovery focused environment. Deliver post-incident team reflections, reflective practice and supervision and ward learning forums. Deliver evidence based treatment, including DBT, CBT, EMDR, FBT, MFT, NVR, individually, in groups and via staff training.

Contribute to evaluation of outcomes with our service users and be part of making ambitious service changes in line with national and regional drivers.

The post is 0.8wte in inpatient services - onsite working is essential.

There is an opportunity to make this a full-time post working one day a week in our Core Community CAMHS working with children and young adults (0-25).

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Clinical Psychologist eligible for chartered status
  • Skills in meeting the needs of children, adolescents and young adults with mental health needs
  • Registration with appropriate body (eg HCPC, ACP, BACP, AFT)
Desirable criteria
  • Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors

Knowledge & Nature Of Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children, adolescents and their families with mental health needs
  • Experience of providing specialist psychological assessment and treatment for clients across the full range of mental health settings to include outpatient, community, day services and in-patient settings
  • Experience of using specialist psychological therapies for patients with co-morbid difficulties including ASD.
  • Experience of assessing and managing suicidal and risky clients in a range of settings.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
Our current Mental Health Services division may be transferring the provision of its services to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT). Whilst at present you are applying for a position within Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation should you be successful in gaining a position within Mental Health Services, your employment may in the future be transferred over to BSMHFT.
