What is the Role?

As a new Consents & Land Graduate joining SSE Renewables (SSER), you will follow a collaborative pathway between the onshore and offshore teams of the development business. You will work with experts in their field, gaining experience in multiple business areas for the duration of the two-year graduate programme.

The programme is partially structured in advance, to ensure exposure to both onshore and offshore projects, but keeps a level of choice and flexibility to allow graduates to explore and experience further areas of interest.

The onshore and offshore consents and land teams act as subject matter experts and key drivers towards the development of SSERs renewable energy projects across a range of technologies including wind, hydro, solar and battery. While working with consents, you will assist in establishing, advising and implementing consenting mechanisms, whilst monitoring the delivery of projects against the permissions received.
With the land team, you will have the opportunity to engage with SSERs development site origination processes, assist in negotiating land purchases and agreements, and gain experience in the work of building and maintaining both our landowner relationships and our obligations to the land where our operational assets are located.

This graduate role gives opportunities to engage directly with a range of stakeholders, including local authorities, landowners, consultees and communities. Members of the consents and land teams engage with the development process directly, as advisors, and as a primary point of contact for consultants who work with SSER.

You will find yourself immersed in a variety of renewable projects over the two-year period, working with a range of experts. You will be expected to assist wherever you can, take every opportunity to learn, and ultimately contribute as a full and valued member of the team.

Throughout the programme, you will have the support of the Graduate Programme Manager and a direct mentor, who will provide guidance and support to enable you to reach your full potential. Additionally, the graduate scheme could assist you in achieving relevant certifications and chartership, should you find a pathway you wish to pursue.
